About the Job
A Cyber Security Analyst protects an organization's infrastructure by monitoring networks for security breaches, investigating incidents, and implementing protective measures. Key responsibilities include managing SIEM tools, conducting vulnerability assessments, and maintaining firewalls. They require technical expertise in operating systems and security tools, alongside analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring & Detection: Analyze system logs, network traffic, and SIEM alerts (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) for suspicious activity.
- Incident Response: Investigate, contain, and remediate threats, such as malware or unauthorized access.
- Vulnerability Management: Perform vulnerability tests and security audits to identify and fix flaws in hardware and software.
- Policy & Compliance: Develop and maintain security standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and ensure compliance.
- Security Tools: Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and endpoint protection
Required Experience and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related field.
- Experience: Often 3+ years in IT security or a related role.
- Certifications: Top certifications include CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CISSP, or GSEC.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows/Linux, network protocols, firewalls, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
