Sri Brahmotsava 2011 Celebrations



   Inauguration Day
Sri Brahmotsava marks the anniversary of the installation of the Deities, Sri Sri Radha Krishna- chandra, Sri Sri Krishna Balaram, Sri Sri Gaur Nitai, Srinivas Govinda and Sri Prahlada Narasimha, and the consecration of the temple. The Deities of ISKCON Bangalore were installed on the 25th of April, 1997 on the Hare Krishna hill in the Chaitra masa, Krishna paksha, Ashtami tithi.






   Day 1 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The first day of the 14th Sri Brahmhotsava festival at ISKCON Bangalore commenced with an abhisheka to Garudadeva, the eternal carrier of Lord Vishnu. A flag bearing the picture of Garudadeva was hoisted during the Dhvaja arohana ceremony which marks the commencement of the grand twelve-day festival.






   Day 2 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The second day of the Sri Brahmahotsava festival at ISKCON Bangalore was celebrated on the 17th of April, 2011.Festivities began in the morning with Kalyanotsava, the wedding ceremony of the Lord, which is one of the most important transcendental lilas of Lord Krishna when he wedded Srimati Rukmini Devi and Srimati Satyabhama.






   Day 3 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The third day of Sri Brahmahotsava festival at ISKCON, Bangalore on the 18th of April, 2011 was another captivating experience, commencing with a yagna which is a Nitya puja.Come dusk, and Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra adorned in Mohini Alankara took a ride on the Hamsa Vahana. The Hamsa or swan is a Vedic symbol of the realized soul.






   Day 4 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The evening celebrations on the fourth day of Sri Brahmahotsava at ISKCON, Bangalore were not dampened by the unexpected shower of rains. In fact the balmy air only provided a respite from the sweltering heat. The huge assemblage of devotees in the main temple hall to get the first glimpse of the exquisitely adorned deities was proof enough of their eagerness which was undeterred by the vagaries of weather.






   Day 5 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The fifth day of Sri Brahmotsava began with the ceremonial yagna in the morning at 8:15 am. Adorned in pastel-hued finery, Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna- chandra evoked veneration and wonderment in the eyes of the beholder. With the setting sun, the Hare Krishna Hill was dazzling with illumination wherever the eye could see.






   Day 6 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011On the sixth day of Sri Brahmahotsava at ISKCON Bangalore, Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna- chandra were adorned in Venugopal Alankara and seated on Kalpa Vriksha Vahana. Kalpa-vriksha refers to a tree in the spiritual world which is called a wish-fulfilling tree. In this material world a particular type of fruit can only be gotten from a particular type of tree, but in the spiritual world, all the trees are spiritual and will yield whatever one desires.






   Day 7 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The seventh day of the grand celebrations of the Sri Brahmahotsava festival at ISKCON Bangalore was conducted with great pomp albeit the heavy downpour of rain. Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra were adorned in Radha Raja Gopal Alankara. Seated on the Maha pallaki which is a grand palanquin with gold leafing and etchings of various scenes depicting the pastimes of Lord Krishna, Radha and Krishna were seated as the King and Queen.






   Day 8 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011On the eighth day of Sri Brahmahotsava, Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra were adorned in Sita Rama Pattabhisheka carried in Hanumad Vahana. Hanuman is a dear devotee of Lord Rama and Sita, who had helped Lord Rama build a bridge to Lanka to rescue Sita. Rama, the hero of the tale, is the eldest and favorite son of the King of Ayodhya, Dasharatha, and his wife Kausalya.






   Day 9 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011The ninth day of Sri Brahmahotsava began with the Kalyanhotsavam ceremony which is the Vedic wedding ceremony of Lord Krishna, Rukmini Devi and Satyabhama. On this occasion, Their lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra were dressed in their best attire. After the morning wedding ritual, Their Lordships were adorned in the Ashtabhuja Narayana Alankara and seated on the Garuda Vahana.






   Day 10 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011 The tenth of the Sri Brahmahotsava festival at ISKCON Bangalore began on a sunny note, after three days of sporadic rain. On the last day of the festival’s procession, amidst kirtans, and rhythmic clanging of kartals, Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna - chandra adorned in Vrindavana Krishna Vishesha Alankara were brought down in a pallaki from the main temple.







   Day 11 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011 After ten glorious days of festivities on the occasion of Sri Brahmotsava at ISKCON Bangalore, the utsvar deities were given Choorna Abhishkeha , which is a ceremonial bath with healing herbs, refreshing fruit juices, sandalwood paste, and tender coconut, before being showered with flowers.







   Day 12 Celebrations
ISKCON Sri Brahmotsava 2011 The last day of the fourteenth Sri Brahmotsava at ISKCON Bangalore was celebrated with sheer magnificence. Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandra were adorned in Venulola Alankara. In this Alankara, Lord Krishna and Srimati Radha Rani were bejeweled with different kinds of precious stones.
