Honorable President Pranab Mukherjee, while on a two-day visit to the city, spent some time at ISKCON Bangalore on August 27, 2016 and sought the blessings of Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra. The President also commemorated the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s milestone of serving two billion meals to government school children.
The dignitaries in attendance were Shri Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala – Governor of Karnataka; Shri Siddaramaiah – Chief Minister of Karnataka; Shri Prakash Javadekar – Union Minister of Human Resource Development; Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi – Member of Parliament, Former Minister of HRD and Science & Technology, and Mrs. Sudha Murty, Chairperson, Infosys Foundation.
Shri Pranab Mukherjee, speaking at the occasion, appreciated the efforts of Akshaya Patra to provide fresh and nutritious mid-day meals.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman of Akshaya Patra Foundation said, “It is indeed a great honor to celebrate the milestone in the presence of the Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee and other distinguished guests. The Government of India, the Karnataka Government and all other State Governments of India have been Akshaya Patra’s greatest pillar of support over the past 16 years. It is with their encouragement that Akshaya Patra aspires to fulfill its mission of feeding 5 million children by 2020.”
The President then proceeded to the main temple hall for darshan, served meals to school children and honored prasadam. This milestone is indeed an event to remember.
