Costume ideas
Dressing your little Krishna or Radha
Drawn from authentic scriptural descriptions. Keep these in mind and your entry will shine.
As Krishna
- ✦Cowherd boy dress: dhoti, chaddar, turban and belt in bright colours
- ✦Flute in hand, peacock feather on the head, cut out or hand drawn, never real
- ✦Curling hair, tilaka, mascara lined eyes, kumkum dots and sandalwood designs
- ✦Crown, earrings, necklace, bangles, ankle bells and a flower garland
As Radha
- ✦Ruby red upper garment with a lower garment the colour of a blue cloud
- ✦Long braid or curling locks, sindura on the forehead, a charming smile
- ✦Pearl necklace, nose ring, earrings, and gentle face decoration
- ✦Ten ornaments, from crown to toe rings, with flower garlands

Contest rules

- The contest runs from 15th August 2026 to 4th September 2026.
- Registrations close at 5 PM on 4th September 2026.
- Submitted photos are reviewed and approved within 24 hours of upload, so please enter well before the closing time to be sure your entry is live for voting.
- Voting opens from the time of Registration on 15 Aug 2026.
- Voting ends at 7 PM, 4 Sep — no votes are counted after that.
- Results are announced on 4 Sep 2026 during the Swagatam Krishna Event - the auspicious appearance day of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.
- Open to children up to 10 years old, dressed as Krishna or Radha.
- Only one photo per child — duplicate entries will be disqualified.
- Photos must be submitted through our website only.
- Images already used commercially, published elsewhere, or that won a prior competition are not eligible.
- Low image quality, screenshots, or collages.
- Digitally manipulated or distorted photos — basic sharpening, contrast, cropping or background changes are accepted.
- Disruptive watermarks, or subjects other than the child in frame.
- Backgrounds with too many modern elements.
- Images should be at least 2 MB and no more than 4 MB, in JPG, JPEG or PNG format.
- Please avoid real peacock feathers, to prevent any cruel treatment of the birds.
- A printed, hand-drawn, or otherwise crafted feather is equally beautiful — and encouraged.
- You retain copyright to your photo, and confirm it is your own original, unpublished work.
- Photos must be taken with the permission of the subject's parent or guardian.
- By entering, you grant ISKCON Samskriti the right to use the image to promote the contest and our charitable activities — never for commercial purposes.
- Participants are responsible for all entry-related costs and for any copyright or intellectual property violations.
- Voters' Choice — the top 10 entries by vote count.
- Judges' Choice — a "Cute 16" selected by our judging panel.
- 108 shortlisted images will be showcased on our Facebook page.
- Entries will be judged on visual appeal and presentation, originality and creativity, and technical excellence and composition. All decisions made by the judging panel are final and binding.
- ISKCON Samskriti reserves the right to adjust the number of prizes if an insufficient number of deserving entries is received, and may disqualify any participant who violates these terms.
