The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also known as Hare Krishna Movement, was founded in the year 1966 by Srila Prabhupada with the objective of spreading the message of Krishna as explained in Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam. To further the mission of Srila Prabhupada, the society of ISKCON Bangalore was registered in the year 1978 under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act.
