Sita Thakurani was the wife of Advaita Acharya, and together they had six sons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Advaita Acharya had two houses, one in Shantipur<\/strong> and another in Navadvipa<\/strong>. When Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu was born, Advaita Acharya was staying at his house in Shantipur rather than at his Navadvipa residence. Therefore, from his ancestral home in Shantipur, Sita Thakurani traveled to Navadvipa to visit the newborn child and present her gifts. Taking permission from her husband, Sita Thakurani went to the home of Jagannatha Misra and Saci Devi, carrying many precious gifts and auspicious offerings for the newborn child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She brought beautiful golden ornaments, including bangles, armlets, necklaces and anklets. She also brought silk clothes, waist decorations, ornaments for the hands and legs, and other valuable items. Gold and silver coins were also among her offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Along with these gifts, Sita Thakurani brought many auspicious items such as fresh grass, paddy, turmeric, sandalwood and other traditional offerings. She arrived in a palanquin covered with cloth, accompanied by maidservants, carrying all these items in a large basket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When she saw the newborn child, she was astonished by His extraordinary beauty. His body was radiant, His limbs were perfectly formed, and His features displayed many auspicious signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Although the child’s complexion was different from that of Krishna, Sita Thakurani understood that He was directly Krishna of Gokula Himself. Seeing His divine beauty, she became filled with maternal affection and felt as if her heart were melting with joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She then blessed the child by placing fresh grass and paddy on His head and wishing Him a long life. However, being concerned about ghosts and witches, she affectionately gave the child the name Nimai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Later, when the mother and child left the maternity home after their first bath, Sita Thakurani again presented them with beautiful ornaments and garments. She also honored Jagannatha Misra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her visit was therefore much more than a simple visit to see a newborn child. Sita Thakurani had traveled from Shantipur to Navadvipa with love, affection and auspicious offerings.
