The Lord Visits His \u2018Maternal Aunt\u2019s Home\u2019<\/strong><br>The Ratha Yatra marks the symbolic annual journey of the Deities to the Gundicha Temple, believed to be the abode of Their maternal aunt (Mausi Bari). This nine-day transit draws crowds across age, background, and geography.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. No Modern Tools Used to Build Chariots<\/strong><br>Each year, three separate chariots are built afresh from neem wood by highly skilled artisans. What makes this construction unique is its adherence to centuries-old techniques\u2014no modern instruments or blueprints are used.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Three Deities, Three Distinct Chariots<\/strong><br>Each Deity travels on a chariot of specific dimensions and colours:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Jagannatha\u2019s chariot<\/em>, <strong>Nandighosha<\/strong>, is 45 feet tall and painted red and yellow.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Balabhadra\u2019s chariot<\/em>, <strong>Taladhwaja<\/strong>, is slightly smaller at 44 feet and coloured red and green.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Subhadra\u2019s chariot<\/em>, <strong>Devadalana<\/strong>, stands 43 feet tall and features red and black hues.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. A King Who Sweeps the Streets<\/strong><br>The Gajapati King of Puri, traditionally regarded as the Lord\u2019s foremost servant, performs the Chhera Pahanra ritual\u2014sweeping the chariot platforms with a golden broom. It is one of the rare instances where royalty performs such an act of humility and devotion in public.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5. ISKCON\u2019s Role in Globalising the Festival<\/strong><br>While Ratha Yatra remains rooted in Odisha, it has found resonance globally\u2014 due to His Divine Grace A.C.
