On the auspicious day of Sravana Dwadashi, a special celebration commemorating the appearance of Sri Vamanadeva was celebrated at the Sri Radha Krishna Chandra Mandir at ISKCON Bangalore. The Deity of Sri Krishna appeared in an extraordinary avatar of Lord Vamanadeva clad in a bright saffron dhothi holding an umbrella in his left hand and a pot of sacred water in his right. Devotees visited the temple to receive blessings of the special dharshan of the Lord adorning the Vamana avatara. On this day devotees offer their obeisance to Lord Vamanadeva and His pure devotee Bali Maharaja to protect them from the tendency of desire. Devotees also fast on the previous day which is known as Parshva Ekadashi.
Lord Vamanadeva appeared as the son of Kashyapa and Aditi. Lord Vamanadeva appeared in this world from the womb of Aditi completely equipped with conch shell, disc, club and lotus. His bodily hue was blackish, and He was dressed in yellow garments. After His appearance, The Lord assumed the form of a dwarf (Vamana).
