Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi Mangala Arati 2011 |
Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi Abhishekam 2011 |
Narasimha Chaturdashi also known as Narasimha Jayanti is the appearance day of Lord Narasimha, the half-man half-lion incarnation of Sri Krishna. The Lord appeared in this wonderful form in order to protect his five-year old devotee Prahalada, from the atrocities of his demonic father Hiranyakashipu.
Narasimha Chaturdasi is observed on Vaisakha shukla Chaturdashi or fourteenth day in bright half of Vaisakha month. As a part of celebrating this auspicious occasion, a special homa dedicated to Lord Narasimha was performed at the main temple hall in the early hours of Monday morning. Several devotees participated in the homa ceremony and received blessing from the Lord. Devotees maintain a fast during the festival.
In the evening, the Utsava Deity of Lord Narasimha Dev at ISKCON Bangalore received an elaborate abhisheka. The Deity was massaged with Sandalwood oil and til paste followed by a bath with Milk, Curd, Ghee, Honey and Sweet water. Juice of several fruits was also used in the abhisheka. During the abhishekam, devotees were blessed with the magnificent Haldi Lepana darshan of Lord Narasimha. Several varieties of aratis were offered to the Lord before Sri Narasimha Dev was bathed with sanctified water from 108 kalashas. The Deity was showered with a variety of exotic flowers before offering the Vyanjana and Chamara seva. An audio-visual of Srila Prabhupada speaking on the importance of Narasimha Chaturdashi was played before a special arati was offered to the Lord to conclude the celebrations.
