BANGALORE: Children of unsung heroes like police constables, auto drivers, railway porters and pourakarmikas can now get assistance in pursuing higher education, through the Iskcon Scholarship Fund (ISF).

Srinivasilu Reddy, a developer, has committed a seed fund of Rs 10 lakh per year towards the programme. "We plan to increase this amount to Rs 1 crore per year. We will raise the amount every year and disburse it entirely. The programme will be conducted at zero administrative cost to donors," said Madhu Pandit Das, Iskcon president.

Iskcon has invited donors to contribute to the fund. Eligibility will be merit and the family's financial needs only. Students of Class X and II PUC can apply.
