Vitamin capsules for deprived children

HUBLI: To improve the nutritional status in underprivileged students, the Akshaya Patra Foundation is planning to distribute Becozinc vitamin capsules, free as part of the Akshaya Patra midday meal programme.

Speaking at the orientation programme for the administration of the tablets for the children at Hosur school here on Monday, Yudhisthira Krishna Dasa, co-ordinator of the Foundation, disclosed that presently the Foundation was feeding 1,32,457 underprivileged students everyday, who were studying in government schools of Dharwad district.

In order to promote literacy among children from this section and also improve the enrolment, attendance, retention and overall health in poor students, the Foundation decided to provide vitamin capsules, rich in vitamin B complex content, he added.

He said the said capsules were fortified with zinc and calcium and would provide all the additional nutrients and increase immunity in children.
