Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2011- Day 2

Morning Abhisheka

Evening Abhisheka

The second day of the Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival at ISKCON Bangalore was celebrated on 22nd August, 2011.

Festivities began in the morning with the Janmashtami Abhisheka at the Dwarkapuri Hall. A large mass of people assembled to witness the ceremony.

Another special feature of the festival was the adornment of the Deities in new dresses on both the days. These elegant and colorful dresses added to the beauty and festive mood of Janmashtami.

The festival Deities of Sri Radha Krishna-chandra received elaborate abhishekha sevas all through the two days of the festival. The ceremony was conducted amidst chanting of the Purusha-sukta prayers and melodious kirtans accompanied by blowing of conch shells. Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra were bathed with various auspicious items. Their Lordships were bathed with panchamrutha - milk, ghee, honey and sweetened water, pancha gavya, various fruit juices, various flowers, herbs and other sacred items. Each of the abhishekas ended with the lord being bathed in special sanctified water which was kept in kalashas (water pots) covered with coconut & mango leaves.

The huge assemblage of devotees in the temple to get the first glimpse of the exquisitely adorned Deities was proof enough of their eagerness and love that they have for Their Lordships.
