August 25, 2008

Vyasadeva is the original spiritual master. Therefore the birthday of guru is called Vyasa puja. Because guru is the representative of Vyasadeva. Vyasa Puja is celebrated on Srila Prabhupada’s Appearance day. On his birthday a special ceremony is offered as Vyasa puja. Devotees offer thousands of food preparations and several readings to Srila Prabhupada on this day.

On this day devotees gather in the main temple hall in the evening to remember the activities, teachings and the devotional qualities of the great soul who spread the message of Krishna all over the world.

Hundreds of devotees took part in cooking over 10,000 varieties of dishes for the most elaborate feast offered to Krishna last year.
