On the occasion of the Lord's appearance as Vamanadeva, devotees can have special darshana of the                                                  Deity of Lord Krishna in Vamana alankara.
Lord Vamanadeva appeared as the son of Kashyapa and Aditi. Lord Vamanadeva appeared in this world from the womb of Aditi completely equipped with conch shell, disc, club and lotus. His bodily hue was blackish, and He was dressed in yellow garments. Lord Vishnu appeared at an auspicious moment on Sravana-dvadashi when the Abhijit star had arisen.   After His appearance, the Lord assumed the form of a dwarf (Vamana).

Devotees fast on the previous day, called Parshva Ekadashi, till noon.  On the day of Vamana Dwadashi, generally in the ISKCON temple, the Krishna Deity is dressed as Vamanadeva.  He wears a bright saffron dhoti and holds an umbrella and a water pot in the other hand.  Devotees fervently pray to Lord Vamanadeva and His pure devotee Bali Maharaja to protect them from the tendency of wanting to become the lord of the world.  They humbly beg to be situated eternally as the servant of the servant of the servant of the Lord.  Prayers from Srimad Bhagavatam are sung in glorification of Lord Vamana.
