Krishna Shringar
The temple has been a hub of culture since time immemorial. Here, the qualities and pastimes of the Lord are glorified through various forms of performing arts. In this way, philosophy and knowledge of the ancient history of the Vedic times as narrated by the Vedic literatures is interestingly imparted through dance and music to the common folk who gather.
Keeping with this tradition, the ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Mandir has been organizing, for the last five years, Sri Krishna Shringar, a dance festival. Eminent dancers from all parts of the country perform dance dramas depicting the pastimes of Lord Krishna and His incarnations and devotees in different styles of classical dance. Bharatanatyam artists of Chennai’s Kalakshetra and Bharatha Kalanjali and solo artist Priyadarshini Govind, Birju Maharaj’s Kathak dance group, Madhavi Mudgal’s Odissi dancers, Bharathi Shivaji’s Mohiniattam artists and Vempatti Chinna Satyam’s Kuchipudi dancers have treated Bangalore’s dance lovers with their excellent performances under the auspices of ISKCON Bangalore, over these past five years.
These productions have won the appreciation and applaud of audiences and the Sri Krishna Shringar dance drama festival has become an event that dance lovers in the city look forward to every year.
