	My country, El Salvador, is one of the six countries in Central America. The main objective of our government is to attain growth in order to fight poverty. Our efforts over the last twenty years have allowed us to reduce poverty from 60% to 34% of the population. In order for our programmes to be successful we need awareness from as many sectors and institutions in El Salvador. I must say your programme is absolutely impressive because I fully understand how complex your job is. May I congratulate you for your efforts for the children of India. 	Today that is, the 28th of May, 2002, I paid a visit to ISKCON temple at Bangalore and saw the entire complex. Also I was given an opportunity to see the slide projection on the midday meal program taken up by the management of ISKCON, Bangalore. Education is meant to transform individuals to the ideals of living. However higher ideals cannot be achieved when the stomachs go regularly hungry. Yet millions of our children go to school undernourished, thereby dreams of realizing their true potential is getting shattered. ISKCON, Bangalore, is doing yeoman service in this regard.
